This feasibility assessment has two main focuses: checking the viability of the show in the stage space (how the set will fit together) and setting the seating area to be sold based on the visibility of the seating space. When producers create a new show, they evaluate its viability as needed. However, performing stage and seating space assessments based on floor plans and cross-sectional drawings is a difficult job that requires a lot of time and effort.
At the same time, we are working to increase productivity by establishing Shimz One BIM, a platform that enables consistent utilization and deployment of designer-generated BIM data during the building operations phase. Since the 3D shape of the as-built building is stored in the as-built BIM used in the operation phase, we are seeking new business development utilizing this data. In this case, we believe that the use of as-built BIM can replace the producer’s feasibility assessment. With the cooperation of Shiki who has been placing orders for the theater construction, we aimed to test the effectiveness of our simulation system.
The first step in evaluating the feasibility of using the system was to customize the as-built BIM data to build a virtual theater space that accurately reproduces the shape of the stage and the positions of individual seats. Next, 3D modeling was carried out on the sets, sets, stage props, actor positions, etc. of multiple scenes of the show, and integrated into the virtual space. In the next feasibility assessment, the feasibility of the scheme is verified by superimposing the modeling scene on the virtual stage. The visibility of the seating space is verified by viewing multiple objects arbitrarily placed on the stage from the perspective of the audience sitting in each seat. The time required for all this is only a few tens of seconds. In addition, the virtual theater space can be used for planning studies of new theaters, as it includes not only the visibility of seats, but also acoustics and lighting.
After verifying the effectiveness of the system, we will use it to develop consulting services and Shiki will use it to streamline its feasibility assessment operations.

One of the core platforms of our medium-term digital strategy. Revit, which forms the core of the system, has a high degree of compatibility. So, for design and build projects, we have implemented a consistent data link, deploying the design BIM generated by our designers into the construction BIM and the as-built BIM. Also, for projects designed by other companies, we convert drawings and other materials into design BIM data and deploy them on Shimz One BIM from the construction stage.
