ABU DHABI: SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, the capital’s newest attraction, is gearing up to welcome visitors from Tuesday with a series of opening ceremonies and performances ahead of its public opening.
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, was officially inaugurated on Saturday, May 20. The 183,000-square-metre park on Yas Island is spread over five storeys in a central hub called One Ocean. It was here that an immersive opening ceremony attracted thousands of visitors. Guests were also greeted by traditional Emirati ayala dancers and a sea troupe. After the opening ceremony, sea lion and dolphin shows were held in the park.

The facility houses 100,000 individual animals from 150 species. It also features theme park rides, including roller coasters, and features a variety of interactive exhibits.
It’s the first SeaWorld to open outside of the United States. Developed as a collaboration between Miral and US-based SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment, it’s the first not to feature captive orcas. Instead there are dolphins, rays, starfish, flamingos, penguins and all kinds of fish.

The park is divided into themed areas.
Abu Dhabi Seas: Fittingly themed around the Arabian Seas, the first area of ​​the park showcases traditional Emirati boats and decorative elements modeled on the mangroves that dot the coast of the UAE. Visitors can get up close and personal with starfish and rays in the area’s touch pool.
One Ocean: This main park hub was built to host immersive shows using screens and drones. Visitors can also go to the park’s animal care center, or access other areas from this area.
