Sigourney Weaver brings her teenage self into new Avatar character | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Sigourney Weaver brings her teenage self into Avatar: The Way of Water.

The 73-year-old actress’ role as 14-year-old Na’vi Kiri in the long-awaited 2009 “Avatar” sequel drove her performance.

She said: “I usually wear a black turtleneck and an olive green suede pullover/tunic. I guess it’s kind of like beat ethnic clothing.

“I think it’s a great time, you know? Kids are very imaginative at that age – they’re very sensitive, vulnerable, excitable, and they see things very clearly. I try to make that ego conscious, embarrassing energy [I had] Flow into character. “

Sigourney starred in the original Avatar film, but her scientist Grace was killed off at the end, and she had faith in director James Cameron when he floated the idea of her returning to the series in a different way.

She told You Magazine: “I thought, ‘Well, Jim is smart. If he thinks I can do this, let’s give it a go!’

“I don’t think John Wayne was asked to play a 14-year-old in his 70s. It was something new.”

Many of the films are set underwater, so the actors spent a year freediving with the U.S. Navy SEALs, and Sigourney can now hold her breath underwater for six and a half minutes.

“It does remind you of great British adventurers like Captain Cook who traveled to the other side of the world in these amazing sailing ships,” she laughs.

The ‘Alien’ actress takes great pride in her work, admits she’s had ‘exact career [she] want,” though she insists that doesn’t mean she has “all the answers.”

“I think it’s okay not to have all the answers, you know? People look at me like I have answers to things. I don’t. I’m just in the pond with everyone else,” she said.
