#Roommates, Simone Byers Known as the most beautifully decorated gymnast in the history of the world, she now uses her platform to talk about the heartbreaking sexual abuse suffered by her and other US team gymnasts. In a recent testimony in the Senate, Simone Byers talked about the terrible sexual abuse she suffered from the convicted former US team doctor Larry Nassar and criticized the authorities for ignoring such abuse for years.

@Newsweek reports that Simone Biles and former US team gymnasts Aly Raisman, McKayla Maroney and Maggie Nichols Recently testified Before the Senate Judiciary Committee accused the FBI of ignoring Larry Nassar’s sexual abuse of female athletes. Earlier this year, the Justice Department reported on the FBI’s mistakes in the investigation process. The report disclosed that the Indianapolis branch of the FBI failed to respond to the allegations, resulting in more than 70 female athletes being sexually abused. After pleading guilty to seven counts of sexual misconduct in 2018, Naxal is currently serving 40 to 175 years in prison.

Simone Biles also criticized the FBI’s negligence in this case, saying

“When reviewing the OIG report, I really felt that the FBI turned a blind eye to us and did everything it could to help protect USAG and USOPC. I undoubtedly believe that the circumstances that led to my abuse and allowed it to continue were directly due to the organization established by Congress. Supervise and protect me as an athlete, American Gymnastics, and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.”

In addition, the Department of Justice report also pointed out that although the FBI first learned of the allegations of sexual abuse in July 2015, they did not start a formal investigation until October 2016, more than a year later.

According to the report, the FBI also failed to properly interview one of Naxal’s accusers, neglected to interview other victims, and failed to notify other authorities of allegations of abuse. There are also reports that multiple FBI agents were suspected of making false statements during the investigation.
