Following Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral, Sir Keir Starmer announced “we are fortunate enough to call ourselves Elizabethans” in a touching message.

After Westminster Abbey’s services ended on Monday (19.09.22), the UK Labour leader tweeted a poignant message in tribute to the late monarch – who died on September 8, Aged 96 – He praised the Queen’s “courage” and “sense of humour”.

Sir Kyle wrote: “Today marks the passing of an era. The dignity, courage, spirit, selflessness and humor displayed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her reign will forever be with us. We are fortunate to call ourselves For Elizabethans.”

Following the state funeral, the king’s body was carried in a military carriage through central London to Wellington Arch, where the coffin was transferred to a hearse, and finally to Windsor.

The Queen’s children and grandsons, Princes William and Harry, led by King Charles, took part in the parade, while some female royals – including Queen Camilla, Princess of Wales and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex – travelled by car.

As the procession passed the monument, the king and his siblings paid tribute to the soldiers who died in World War I and World War II.

The Whitehall crowd applauded the parade and chanted “Hip-hop, hooray” as the parade passed, while on Constitution Hill, the public gathered to pay their respects waved flowers.

Buckingham Palace staff waited outside for nearly an hour as the entourage passed the British monarch’s London residence.

The staff either salutes or bows as the queen’s coffin passes by, then repeats the gesture in honor of the king.

Upon arrival in Windsor, the commissioning ceremony will begin at St George’s Chapel in Windsor at 4pm, followed by a private funeral later in the evening.
