Sir Ringo Starr cancels his tour after testing positive for coronavirus twice.
The 82-year-old Beatles drummer made the announcement just days after saying his gig had resumed after testing negative for the virus, which led to the show being canceled.
He tweeted on Thursday (13/13/22) next to a selfie of himself flashing a peace sign: “I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as I am that I’ve tested positive for Covid-19 again and I’m left with the rest of my life. The tour is over, I send you peace and love Ringo.”
Ringo will exit the show on October 14th in San Jose, California, Paso Robles on October 15th, Los Angeles on October 16th, and two dates in Mexico City on October 19th and 20th.
He previously posted his negative Covid test result on Instagram, saying: “On the road, I’ll see you in Seattle on Tuesday the 11th, Portland on Wednesday, I’m negative, I love everyone, thank you all wait. Brother Lin.”
Ringo canceled five shows in early October after testing positive for the coronavirus.
The Beatles veteran and his all-star band canceled shows in Canada following the diagnosis, although a spokesman for the group initially said the drummer was not sick.
Previously, Ringo withdrew from the show at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan, on Oct. 1, saying he had come on stage ill.
The All-Star Band show in Prior Lake, Minnesota, scheduled for Sunday night, was also canceled.
On Oct. 3, he tested positive for the coronavirus, and he won’t be playing in Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Lethbridge, or the arenas in Abbotsford and Penticton.
A statement confirmed: “Ringo hopes to recover as soon as possible and is currently recovering at home. As always, he and the All-Stars send peace and love to their fans and hope to see them back on the field as soon as possible.”
The shows are part of a wider tour that he will continue after his recovery.
Ringo pulled out of the Four Winds casino show after realizing he was unable to perform due to illness, which was believed to have affected his voice at the time.
Ringo, who celebrated his 82nd birthday in July, kept up the tradition of hosting an annual “Peace and Love” party in Beverly Hills.
He and his second wife, Barbara, also celebrated 41 years of marriage in April.
The nine-time Grammy winner — his sons Zach, 56, Jason, 54, and daughter Lee, 51, from a decade-long marriage to Maureen Starkey — on June 26 Sunday wraps up his “Spring 2022 Tour” in Clearwater, Florida. – Starr Band.
It was delayed from 2020 due to the pandemic and was originally scheduled to be completed in Mexico City on October 20.
