Six Senses to open resort on Greek island

[ad_1]

Six Senses, part of the InterContinental Hotels Group, is teaming up with Grivalia Hospitality, a leader in Greece’s ultra-luxury hospitality industry, to open its first resort in Greece.

It will be located on the southern white-sand bay of Megalonisos, one of the 10 Petalioi islands and islets with some of the best undiscovered beaches in the “Greek Maldives”. Six Senses Megalonissos is just a short boat ride from the port of Rafina, across the sea from Athens or Marmari on the west coast of Evia.

It is said that the island of Evia or Euboea was separated from the Greek mainland by the attack of Poseidon’s trident. This is the childhood home of the goddess Hera, and it is also the battlefield of Titans and giants. Adams is left behind by history and the myth of dozing in the sun.

There will be 75 guest villas and 20 branded residences for sale, all of which blend quietly into the contours of the bay, which is protected from prevailing winds, making it an ideal anchorage for yachts and sailboats.

Abundant diving opportunities in clear turquoise waters and uninterrupted hiking trails in undisturbed nature help create an extraordinary array of experiences to stimulate, inspire and rejuvenate. A relaxing day trip from Athens adds to the appeal of exploring the Greek cultural heritage (Acropolis, Ancient Agora, Parthenon and Temple of Olympian Zeus, etc.) to the abundance of gastronomy and street food.

Six Senses was chosen for the project in part because of its ecological credentials in energy, materials and operations, supporting Greece’s shifting approach towards sustainable and responsible tourism practices. The development will be powered by its own solar farm.

Three restaurants include an all-day dining restaurant, Beach Bar and Grill, and a signature Sunset Bar. There’s also a pastry café, perfect for a coffee after a morning dip or sun salutation, and a boutique.

The 1,700-square-metre Six Senses Spa will offer treatment rooms, including four sensory suites for two, a Watsu offering a range of hydrotherapy treatments and a hammam offering warm herbal steams and body scrubs.

Guests will enjoy locally inspired cuisine and spa treatments alongside signature experiences and brand differentiators including Sleep, Eat, Grow with Six Senses, Alchemy Bar, Earth Lab and Integrative Wellness.

Neil Jacobs, CEO of Six Senses, said: “Six Senses Megalonissos offers a unique opportunity to set foot on a Greek island that even the gods have never seen “We look forward to welcoming our guests with hospitality that includes groundbreaking wellness, sustainability and meaningful experiences.”

George Chryssikos, Chairman and CEO of Grivalia Hospitality, said: “We are delighted to join forces with Six Senses as we share common values in sustainability and wellbeing. At Grivalia Hospitality, we aim to create special and unique hotel projects and experiences, while strengthening Greece’s position as a leading destination for luxury tourism and attracting world-class brands that recognize the great potential of our country. The premium hospitality industry.”

Six Senses Megalonissos is accessible by private boat from the port of Rafina (16 km, 30 minutes drive from Athens International Airport) or the ports of Marmari or Kaleistos in Evia.

A target opening date has been set for the end of 2027. – trade arab news agency
