Soon you can visit Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island in the Metaverse

Abu Dhabi, the largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has 200 islands, but by 2023 it will add one more – if you count the digital islands.

next year, Abu Dhabi A Metaverse version of its famous entertainment capital, Yas Island, will be launched.

The emirate’s leisure zone is home to a theme park, F1 circuit, shopping mall and aquarium, but it’s going digital to make the island accessible to a global audience.

What is the Metaverse?

Metaverse Provide users with an immersive digital experience in a virtual world. There are hundreds of metaverses currently in development, and companies like Roblox, Meta, and Epic Games are developing their own platforms.

For a fully immersive experience, you can access Metaverse by wearing a VR headset, or you can enter some VR worlds through your PC or laptop.

What does Virtual Yas Island offer?

Ministry of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) join forces with many businesses, technology platform, including Flash Entertainment, Miral, Abu Dhabi Motorsport and Roblox, transformed the 25 square kilometer island into a digital space. Once live, users will be able to meet, play games and explore the island.

Mohammed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral, said: “We are proud to announce that people from all corners of the globe will soon be able to enjoy the entire beauty of Yas Island in the digital world. and an immersive experience.”

“As a pioneer in the leisure and entertainment industry, we partner with major entities to offer visitors a new way to explore and discover all that Yas Island has to offer, from world-class theme parks to global events.”

Visitors can also build virtual homes and visit the provided theme parks. Attractions include the world’s fastest roller coaster at Ferrari World and the chance to race around an F1 track.

Digital Island is currently under development, but is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2023.

What can I do on Yas Island IRL?

If the virtual world isn’t for you, why not check out Yas Island in real life? The man-made island began construction in 2006 and has since become a hub for thrill-seekers.

At Ferrari World, you’ll also find the world’s tallest roller coaster loop, zero-gravity drops, and a range of more kid-friendly rides for younger children.

At Yas Waterworld, you can hop on the Loop Freefall Waterslide or the longest suspended roller coaster in the region. You can even try pearl diving in the purpose-built tank or practice boogie boarding in the infinity wave pool.

Where to eat in Yas Island

After all your adventures, you need something to eat. Luckily, it seems like just about every treat under the sun is on offer here. Head to Angar for modern Indian cuisine, or Cipriani, the island’s top Italian restaurant. Dishes include vanilla meringue cake and risotto “alla Primavera”.

Or, if you prefer something a little more casual, head to Emmy Squared for an eye-catching square pizza.

Sports to enjoy on Yas Island

Yas Island is also becoming a major sports destination. The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be held at the island’s Yas Marina Circuit on November 20, and there’s also a fan area if you happen to be there during the World Cup.

For an entirely different experience, be sure to head to Clymb Abu Dhabi. The center features the widest indoor skydiving flight chamber in the world and the tallest indoor climbing wall in the region.

The indoor skydiving room takes you up to 34 meters in the air, while the climbing wall gives you the chance to ascend almost 40 meters.

As if that wasn’t enough, there is of course an epic golf course. Yas Links Abu Dhabi golfers can enjoy stunning views of the Arabian Gulf as they traverse the 18-hole championship course. If 18 holes is a bit much for you, there are also 9 holes to choose from.

If you’re not ready for the real thing, wait until 2023 to see if you can play a game in the Metaverse.
