Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi celebrates 13th graduation ceremony

ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Sorbonne University recently celebrated the graduation of its 13th class of graduates in a ceremony attended by Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Chairman of the University Board of Trustees.

Emirati graduates make up 54% of the Class of 2022, with the 13th class comprising 233 graduates, including 145 Bachelors, 73 Masters and 15 Executive Diploma graduates. The ceremony also marked the graduation of the first 35 Bachelor of Records Management and Archival Science students.

Other graduates have completed degrees in French Studies, Applied Foreign Languages, Geography and Planning, History, Archeology and Art History, Law, Economics and Management, Philosophy and Sociology, Science and Engineering, and Physical Education.

During the graduation ceremony, Al Hashimy congratulated the graduates and praised them for their achievements. She also said the diversity of the class reflects the university’s motto, “Bridges Between Civilizations.”

Al Hashimy added: “Adaptability is of course another part of the DNA of the United Arab Emirates. Like you, the country is young, flexible and forward-looking, but not so young anymore, and championing empathy, understanding We are unequivocal in terms of collaboration and collaboration. What is evident is that we have built a world-class education system that leaves no one behind, driven by a continuous embrace of technology, grounded in gender equality and inclusion, and built with unparalleled creativity and supported by innovation.”

She added: “It is evident in the jobs that await our graduates in the UAE, the new opportunities in established and rapidly emerging industries, and these will only reinforce our reputation as a destination of choice for talent and a source of future talent.”

Professor Nathalie Drach-Temam, University Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees, expressed her pride in the graduates and commended the contribution of staff, administration and departments to the success of students and graduates. She also explained how these efforts are evidence of the University’s mission to provide French-language educational opportunities to develop global leaders and thinkers, foster dialogue, and create harmony among cultures and civilizations.

“At the Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi, we are committed to maintaining the University’s tradition of excellence in French-language education and providing a multidisciplinary education that prepares future global leaders for tomorrow’s major transformational challenges. Our students gain not only academic knowledge, but also an understanding of what multiculturalism means and how to make the most of it to succeed; they gain an openness to the world and knowledge,” Drach-Temam said.

The ceremony, held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, was attended by board members, industry partners, dignitaries, families of graduates and faculty.

Sheikha Latifa Ahmed Mohamed Al Nahyan is one of the UAE’s graduates and the Class of 2022.

“I chose History as a major that focuses primarily on international relations, social evolution, and influential historical and political figures. My interest in this field stems from my interest in understanding different civilizations and how they evolved to become what they are today Obsession. Reading about this particular genre set me on this path and hopefully I can continue to use what I’ve learned in the future,” she said.
