[ad_1]

The UAE is the first country in the world to obtain this miraculous drug…

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, together with the Ministry of Health-Abu Dhabi and Dubai Health Authority, released some impressive results, proving the effectiveness of Sotrovimab in combating Covid-19.

Sotrovimab is an antiviral drug developed by GlaxoSmithKline. Approved for use by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) As early as June 2021. Between June 30 and July 13, it has been used to treat 6,175 Covid-19 patients in Abu Dhabi. More than half of them are over 50 years old and have been diagnosed with complex factors (such as obesity, cancer, diabetes or heart disease), placing them in the high-risk category.

Very encouraging results emerged. Sotrovimab was found to be 99% effective in preventing people from being admitted to the ICU due to Covid-19 infection. The drug has shown 100% success in preventing Covid-related deaths, and 97% of people receiving the drug fully recovered within 14 days.

These extraordinary statistics are achieved through a pioneering treatment called monoclonal antibody therapy, which is administered by intravenous drip.

To gain an insight into how this extraordinary drug affects the lives of real people with coronavirus-Abu Dhabi Media Office shared the following video on their social channels. It contains a series of first-hand information from people who have contracted the virus and received Sotrovimab. It provides some convincing anecdotes, humane evidence.

What is a monoclonal antibody?

You may already be familiar with the concept of antibodies, which are the microscopic royal guards of our bodies. The white blood cells of our immune system spit out small Y-shaped proteins in response to invading foreign proteins, such as bacteria or viruses. Antibodies lock onto the receptors of these invading forces, prevent them from working properly, and hopefully eliminate them all.

Monoclonal antibodies are a more targeted approach that outsources the early stages of the battle to biotechnology laboratories. Live cultures of white blood cells carry foreign proteins (in this case, the Covid-19 virus). This process was repeated many times, in an experiment that produced the correct antibodies to fight the virus-these white blood cells were removed and cloned. Once you do this, you have a small antibody factory where you can harvest and ship proteins for use as transferable treatments.
