Spring entertainment preview: There’s still plenty to show

Autorickshaw performed two concerts in April at the Isabel Bard Center for the Performing Arts – one for adults and one for children.

As spring officially begins, some venues and arts organizations are starting to wrap up their performance seasons, but, as you can see, there are plenty of shows ahead of then.

And this spring season marks what has to be a first: Miss Emily kicked off the big theater season in October, and now she’s the last scheduled performer at the Isabel Bard Center for the Performing Arts—she taped her The Juno nominated live album.

Over the next two months, you can expect the following:

April

1: Sarah Harmer and Kate Fenner perform at 7:00 and 9:30 respectively in the piano room of the Wolfe Island Hotel. Both were sold out.

1: Canadian rock singer Big Wreck performs. 7:30 p.m. Grand Theatre, 218 Princess St. kingstongrand.ca.

2: The Lightwire Theater presents “The Ugly Duckling,” a family-friendly show. 3:30 p.m. Grand Theatre. Add $15.

3: Pianist Younggun Kim and dancer Katherine Semchuk play Prokofiev. Isabel Bader Performing Arts Center, 390 King St. W. 7:30 pm $10-$32. Queensu.ca/theisabel.

8: “Untold Stories,” a one-act drama told in song, starring Jenica Rayne and not-so-amateur amateurs. Domino Theater, 52 Church St. 2:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. $20.

8: Winnipeg’s Apollo Suns headliner, off to a good start. BluMartini, 178 Ontario St. $20 at the door at 9 p.m.

14: Center culturel Frontenac presents folk country quartet Les Bouches Bees. Octave Theatre, 711 Dalton Ave. 7pm Pay what you can ($10 suggested).

14th: Japanese drummer Yamato released “Sundori: Wings of the Phoenix”. grand theater. 7:30pm Starting at $39.50+.

14: Charles Klein performs, Taylor Adams opens. The Mansion, 506 Princess St. $15.

15: Weezer tribute band Sleezer performs their final show. Spearhead Brewing Company, 657 Development Dr. Free at 7 p.m.

15: Toronto’s All-Star Big Band pays homage to Glenn Miller. isabel. 7:30pm $45-$64.

15: Kingston Symphony Orchestra presents “Your Hit Parade” with lead vocalist Michael van Hevel and conductor Lucas Walding. grand theater. 7:30pm $27-$50 (Adult), $25-$47 (Senior), $15-$25 (Student) plus HST and processing fee.

16: Protest hero headlines, get ready prince and meringues. The Broom Factory, 305 Rideau St. Sold out by 3 p.m.
