The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai, in partnership with the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCESL), organized a 12-member Sri Lankan business delegation to visit the UAE from 5th to 9th December 2022.
The business delegation consisted of Sri Lankan companies representing product and service sectors such as Ceylon tea, spices, packaging, coconut products, IT solutions, food and rubber products.
During the visit, the Consulate General worked with the Dubai-based Sri Lanka Business Council (SLBC), the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Chamber of Commerce to organize a comprehensive program for the mission. business and industry.
A UAE market briefing was held at the Consulate General on 5th December 2022 to raise the profile of the visiting delegation, with the participation of Consul General Nalinda Wijerathna, NCESL Secretary General Shiham Marikar, SLBC Dubai Chairman Riza Mohammed and board members of SLBC.
The Consulate General has also partnered with SLBC to organize several B2B meetings with targeted businesses in the UAE to foster connections between the business communities of the two countries.
The visiting delegation participated in the Business Forum and B2B Conference organized by SCCI on December 6, 2022. The Sri Lankan delegation was received by Mohammad Ahmad Amin Awadi, Director General of SCCI and Abdul Aziz Shataf, Assistant Director General of SCCI Business and Communications Sector.
The delegation participated in the Business Forum and B2B Conference in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah on December 8, 2022. The program was held at the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was attended by Mohamed Ali Musabbeh, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry Al Nuaimi, as well as the First Vice President of the RAK Chamber of Commerce and members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. The delegation also participated in a business forum organized by the RAK Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with various government agencies and the business community.
During the official level meeting between the SCCI and the RAK Chamber of Commerce, the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation and create links between the business communities in Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Sri Lanka.
The Chairman and Officers of the RAK Chamber and Sharjah Chamber reassured of their full cooperation and collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka and the Government of Sri Lanka in future bilateral promotional activities including the proposed Sri Lanka Trade Fair in Ras Al Khaimah.
The visit of the Sri Lankan delegation and the projects in the two emirates provided a platform for the visiting delegation to discuss potential collaborations in a range of industries, while establishing avenues for exploring new trade and investment opportunities to further promote business circles between the two countries.
