Eliyantha White treated sports stars and top politicians, including the country’s prime minister, and claimed that he could end the pandemic.

According to his family, a well-known shaman who tried to use “blessing” water to end the COVID-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka has died of the virus.

48-year-old Eliyantha White, who has treated sports stars and senior politicians including the country’s prime minister, claimed in November that he could end it by pouring his “blessing” water into the river Epidemic in Sri Lanka and neighboring India.

The Minister of Health, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, supported this method of water treatment, but was infected two months later and was eventually admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital.

She was later demoted and Lost her portfolio, But still remain in the cabinet.

White attracted international attention in 2010, when the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar publicly thanked him for treating his knee injury, saying it helped him score the first time in the game against South Africa. A one-day international bicentury.

In an interview with Agence France-Presse in 2010, White claimed that he had “special powers” since he was 12 years old.

Since then, he claimed to have treated other Indian cricket stars, including Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra.

White’s family said he rejected the COVID-19 vaccine.

According to quarantine regulations, his body was cremated at the main cemetery in Colombo on Thursday.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, one of the politicians who consulted White, said on Twitter: “His legacy will continue to be passed on throughout his life. He has been exposed to and cured of various diseases.”

But mainstream doctors described White as a liar, and Ayurvedic doctors rejected his claim-even though the shaman said he used 3,000-year Indian medical traditions.

To date, the total number of coronavirus deaths in Sri Lanka has exceeded 12,000, and more than 500,000 have been infected.

The doctor said that the actual number of deaths was at least twice, and that the authorities had adopted large-scale cremations to clean up the bodies that had piled up in hospitals and morgues.
