The 2023 AJP No-Gi Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships will kick off at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, marking an exciting day for Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu The first race of the new Pro (AJP) season.
Organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation in conjunction with the AJP, the championships are open to all countries and compete at Kids, Junior, Amateur, Professional and Masters levels.
Infants, Juniors and Juniors, Juniors, Masters 1 and Masters 2 will take place on Saturday, the first day of competition. Races start at 11:00 am with amateur and professional races on Sunday.
“The AJP No-Gi Abu Dhabi International Jiu-Jitsu Championships matches the ambitions of top athletes looking to start the season in the best possible way, thanks to the participation of professionals from around the world,” said Fahad Al Shamsi, UAE. Secretary General of Jiu-Jitsu Federation. “The game is an important training ground for them ahead of the upcoming championship game.”
Tariq Al Bahri, Director General of AJP, said: “Through AJP’s competitions in capitals around the world, we aim to make a significant contribution to the development of sport and reach more people. Over the years, these tournaments have cemented Abu Dhabi’s status as the sport’s world capital, home to major championships and the ideal venue for athletes from around the globe.”
Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Blue Ribbon Pedro Nascimento, who competes in the amateur division, said: “We are very happy to be back on the mats and competing in the AJP Championships. I expect it will be tougher this year, especially with the increased number of entries. Quality is one factor that makes the game challenging.“
