Startup Spotlight: UAE-based platform SkillPlay offers students a gamified approach to finding jobs and internships

Discussions have been going on for years about how university graduates must upskill to secure better employment opportunities. To help students fine-tune their skills to match those of their preferred companies, the app enables users to engage with and research different companies. Additionally, it offers a leaderboard that can help track one’s performance against peers, as well as challenge friends to work hard on shared skills. “As a gamification platform built for GenZ, Skillplay assesses users’ skill levels and connects them with suitable employers,” Puthur said. “We’re building our technology to solve a problem that students and recent graduates are having right now. Our technology revolves around this problem, and we believe we can use technological disruption to our advantage.
