Strange arrangements made for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral | News of the World

Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II Will rest at Westminster Abbey on September 19. Her funeral will mark the first state funeral in the UK since former Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill in 1965.

A number of world leaders, distinguished members of the royal family and former British Prime Minister are expected to attend the state funeral.

US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Japan’s Emperor Naruhito, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen is expected to attend a state funeral in London.

Commercial flights only, please

If world leaders fly to Heathrow, they are being urged to take commercial flights, not their government planes, a Politico report said.

World leaders will not be allowed to use helicopters or cars to travel to funerals, the report said. It added that they would be taken to Westminster Abbey on an “escort coach”.

Spouse/partner only

World leaders have been asked not to bring any family members or staff to funerals other than their spouses or partners.
