Some 16% of the country’s electricity production was disrupted as thousands continued to protest President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms, according to grid operator RTE.

Maintenance work at nine French nuclear reactors has been disrupted by strikes against the government’s planned pension reforms.
A spokesman for the CGT union said power supplies to the country’s approximately 8.2 GW of thermal, hydro and nuclear power plants were also blocked.
That equates to about 16 percent of the country’s total electricity generation, according to grid operator RTE.
However, imports from neighboring countries totaled less than 1 GW, suggesting that supply is sufficient to meet demand.
These reactors are all operated by EDF.
