‘Success at UAE Forum’ opens tomorrow in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, 30th May, 2023 (WAM) — The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, MoIAT, in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, ADDED, and ADNOC, is scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre. Held from May 31 to June 1, the forum is in line with the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategic Objectives and the ‘Integrated UAE’ initiative, focusing on the themes of ‘Investment, Sustainability, Growth’.

The forum is expected to attract broad participation from policy makers, government and private sector officials, experts, entrepreneurs, financing entities, investors, start-ups and SMEs. Its main objective is to showcase investment opportunities in the local industrial sector, highlighting the potential for investment, product development, product localization and redirecting procurement to the national economy. By prioritizing ICV-certified entities, the Forum aims to drive economic growth and support the development of local industries. In addition, the forum provides a valuable networking and knowledge exchange platform for local and international industry members.

Three thematic discussions will be held on the first day of the forum. Initial sessions will focus on the role of R&D in supporting and enhancing industry competitiveness. The second session will delve into the mechanism of enhancing the industrial value chain and product competitiveness. Finally, the third session will shed light on industrial sustainability and the roadmap for COP28.

The second day of the forum will kick off with a panel discussion entitled ‘My UAE Story’, followed by five sessions around various aspects of industrial growth. The conference will cover topics such as leveraging ICV schemes to boost industrial growth, the vital role of industrial zones in supporting the national economy, exploring innovative financing solutions to boost entrepreneurship and industrial enterprises, an investor’s perspective on why to invest in the UAE, And gain insight into how to empower Emirati talent in the private sector, with a focus on exceptional opportunities.

The Make it in the Emirates Awards Ceremony will be held during the Forum to recognize companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to enhancing the UAE’s status as a global manufacturing and innovation hub. The awards consist of 10 categories organized into four main pillars: Factory of the Future, Domestic Value Contribution, Industrial Enablers, and Leadership and Talent. The ceremony is a platform to celebrate and honor the extraordinary achievements of those who play a key role in driving the UAE’s industrial development.

The exhibition area of ​​the forum gives attendees the opportunity to witness the latest products and services in the industrial field, and facilitates the interaction with industry experts and investors, allowing attendees to witness first-hand how these companies develop their businesses in the industrial and technological fields. In addition, the exhibition also showcases Products under the Make it in the Emirates program highlight the industrial sector’s ability to innovate, shape the future, develop products, enhance competition and sustain economic growth.

The second forum, in line with the National Industrial and Advanced Technology Strategy, aims to promote the growth and development of the domestic industrial sector, increase its contribution to the GDP, attract foreign and local investment, foster entrepreneurship, and enhance the competitiveness of local products . As well as showcasing the UAE’s status as a global hub for manufacturing and innovation, the forum also seeks to promote sustainability and reduce and eliminate carbon emissions from the industrial sector, in line with the goals of the UAE’s “Year of Sustainability” strategy to achieve net zero by 2050 initiative, and its preparations for hosting COP28.

Make it in the Emirates Forum launched in 2022 and has quickly become one of the region’s most prominent industrial platforms. The inaugural event generated AED110 billion worth of sourcing opportunities covering 300 products across 11 industries.
