Talented swimmers in the UAE participating in the FINA World Swimming Championships and Water Sports Festival’s World’s Best Water Sports Talents

The main officials of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, FINA and UAE Swimming Federation today welcomed some international and UAE water athletes who will participate in this week’s FINA World Swimming Championships (25 million) and the Global Water Sports Festival.

The 15th FINA World Swimming Championships, which will be held from December 16 to 21, will be one of the most exciting sports events on the global sports calendar in 2021, and will usher in the world’s best “short track” Swimmers, they just graduated from the Olympics.

In addition to the swimming competition in the arena, sports fans can also watch spectacular water sports performances in Yas Bay. The FINA Advanced Diving Qualifier is the ultimate stage of the 2021 FINA/CNSG Marathon World Swimming Series. It is a brand new open water swimming medley relay and FINA diving team exhibition that will amaze the audience.

On Wednesday, December 15, the athletes were welcomed at the official opening press conference held at the FINA Market Street in the Etihad Arena on Yas Island. Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Commission, and UAE Swimming Federation Chairman Sultan Al Samahi attended the opening ceremony, FINA Chairman Husain Al-Musallam Captain and FINA Executive Director Brent Nowicki.

Numerous swimming and diving stars from all over the world have joined them. Their goal is to impress and compete for glory in front of thousands of spectators in the Etihad Arena in six days.

An official opening press conference was also held, marking the beginning of the FINA World Swimming Festival. For the first time in the history of FINA, all swimming events were displayed, including diving, high diving and open water swimming, as well as world championships.

Before the press conference, the Water Sports Festival started a mixed relay (4 x 1500 meters) open water swimming competition. The team that won the first open water mixed team relay race went to Italy. The team led by the famous swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri soared in the waters of Yas Bay to take home the gold medal. His 15 points and 49.1 points are the fastest of the 9 teams. His swimming speed was 3.2 seconds faster than Hungary’s Kristof Rasovszky, who challenged him tenaciously on the final lap.

When the FINA President Husain Al Mussalam sounded the starting horn, marking the beginning of the first ever mixed team open water relay (4x1500m), the historic six on Yas Island The day of the game began.
