guitarist and rock legend Posted a video on Instagram Thanked fans for their love and support on Friday following the news that he had been officially knighted as King Charles III First New Year Honors List.
“Thank you so much for all the congratulatory messages you guys have sent me since I was knighted,” May said in the video. “I am so thrilled and touched by the love and support from you all. I will do my best to be worthy .”
Closing with a cheerful salute, May concluded: “Now, good night, thank you, and Sir Bree’s love.”
The musician also took a moment to tease his new official title in the post’s caption. “Cheers, all! Sir Bree,” he wrote. “Well…if you want to be formal…Sir Brian Harold May, CBE.” Not too shabby!
May is one of 1,100 recipients on this year’s list, published in the official newspaper of the royal family, bulletinon FridayDescribing him as a “musician, songwriter and animal welfare advocate”, the outlet honored May for her “contributions to music and charity”.
