The Yas Marina Circuit was very lively today. Aspiring triathletes, spectators and family members gathered to participate in the community events and competitions held in Abu Dhabi for the World Triathlon Championship series hosted by Dammam.
With community competitions in the triathlon, triathlon, running, swimming and cycling categories for all ages and abilities, the final day of the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championship series ended a vibrant weekend. The entire event lasts for two days, with more than 2,000 athletes participating. The Classic Tournament will be held on Friday, November 5th, and the Community Tournament will be held on Saturday.
Suhail Abdulla AlAreefi, Executive Director of the Events Division of the Abu Dhabi Sports Commission said: “It is great to see aspiring professional triathletes and the wider community gather in Abu Dhabi to practice this incredible sport. The successful holding and organization of this event further proves how Abu Dhabi has become the center and strategic hub of the sports event industry. We look forward to hosting the World Triathlon Championship series finals in 2022.”
He added: “Our wise leadership has made it possible to host large-scale strategic events with their clear instructions and vision. Their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic has convinced us of their commitment to our safety and well-being and encouraged us Deliver the same message to our participants and attendees.
