The first meeting is to nominate literary critics, who will study the criteria and methods for selecting Arabic novels. These standards will then be used to ensure that listening encompasses this major shift in the literary genre by reflecting all its cognitive and aesthetic dimensions.
The One Hundred and One Book Project will develop a list of reliable and recognized Arabic books that enrich the culture while providing detailed information about their authors and topics. In addition to providing reliable reference materials for researchers interested in Arabic literature, it also aims to promote Arabic literature and recognize its most outstanding writers and writers.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC. The Rapporteurs of the Committee, Dr. Salah Fadl, Dr. Muhsin Al-Musawi, Dr. Abdullah Al-Ghadami, Dr. Paula Santillán and Dr. Khalil Al-Sheikh attended the meeting.
“We at the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center are fully committed to coordinating the different stages of the 101 book project,” said His Excellency Dr. Bin Tamim. “This two-pronged approach will also help us promote Arabic by highlighting its creative characteristics, while providing a wealth of information, which can be used as an evidence-based reference for researchers, or a reliable guide for readers who wish to peruse the most outstanding Arabic novels. .
“We look forward to completing the first phase of the project, which will list 101 Arabic novels, and because it is an important tool for the promotion of Arabic literature and culture, we plan to add more nominations to the list in the future.”
The list of one hundred and one books will be open to the public before the end of 2021.
