Russian Foreign Minister said that the official recognition of the Taliban has not yet been discussed

Local media said that the Afghan delegation led by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate left Kabul on Wednesday and went to Moscow to attend the Afghanistan Conference.

According to Toro News, the members of the delegation included Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mutaki and other Taliban government ministers.

Political and economic issues and humanitarian assistance are expected to be the main topics of the conference. Discuss in Moscow, Toro News reported.

Countries such as Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, India and the United States were invited to participate in the conference. However, according to Afghan News Agency, the United States will not participate in the meeting.

The United States will not attend. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that the issue of formal recognition of the Taliban has not yet been discussed.

“The delegation has gone to Russia to express Afghanistan’s position,” the agency quoted Inamura Samangani as saying.

“Toro News” quoted a recent interview by Mutaki as saying that Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mutaki expressed the hope that this meeting would prompt international countries to recognize the Islamic emirate.

Mutaki said: “Representatives of many countries will attend the meeting, so this meeting is very important to Afghanistan.”

At the same time, the United States has made it clear that it will not participate in the scheduled meeting.

“We will not participate in the Moscow talks. Troika Plus is an effective and constructive forum. We look forward to continuing to participate in the forum, but we will not be able to participate this week,” said Ned Price, a spokesperson for the US State Department.

At the same time, before the Taliban’s upcoming visit to Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday that the issue of formal recognition of the Taliban has not yet been discussed.
