After the overall recovery of the global aviation industry led by the Middle East, especially the UAE, the 22nd Airport Show, the world’s largest annual airport event hosted by Dubai, has concluded with a high profile.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Airline and Group, inaugurated the event, describing the airport exhibition as For a perfect important event to accelerate the development of the global aviation industry industry recovery.

The show comes at a time when a massive expansion of airport terminals in the Middle East is looming, with airports preparing to handle 1.1 billion passengers by 2040 and investing $151 billion in capacity expansion. Abu Dhabi is reportedly spending $3 billion to open a new terminal, and Dubai is reportedly restarting the expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport.
Sheikh Ahmed said: “The construction of new airports and the expansion and upgrading of existing facilities have been accelerated to ensure that the airport meets future demands as well as the needs and expectations of passengers.”
Exhibitors and participants expressed great satisfaction as they received an overwhelming response from other participants and stakeholders, which will translate into future collaborations and strong business relationships.
The Airport Show showcased the products and services of more than 150 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. The trade show with the theme of “Innovating Future Sustainable Airports Together” has proven itself to be the world’s largest annual B2B platform for the airport industry.
The 2023 Business Connect program hosted over 100 buyers from 35 companies in over 20 countries.
Exhibitors from a number of countries including the United States, Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Turkey, the Netherlands, China, Belgium, South Korea and Sweden, as well as the host UAE, showcased the latest innovative products and technologies that make the aviation industry safe and sustainable, enhancing efficiency and passenger experience.
The concurrent ATC Forum, Gulf Aviation Leaders Forum (GALF), Middle East Airport Safety and Middle East Women in Aviation Annual Conference were a great success with the active and constructive participation of global experts and industry leaders.
The deliberations proved that GALF is a platform for shaping the future of the aviation industry and a space where industry experts and stakeholders come together to share insights, engage in meaningful discussions and forge strategic partnerships.
GALF celebrates its landmark 10th edition with positive news that the Middle East is leading the recovery of the aviation industry, with Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia soon to achieve 100% recovery, as IATA (IATA) as confirmed.
Kashif Khalid, regional director for the Middle East and Africa at IATA, said the aviation recovery is on track and 2023 is off to a strong start. “The global aviation industry is almost at pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
