Our friends at the UAE Literary Foundation decided to commemorate the Mad Hatter Day on October 6th and list a series of books to take you on a whimsical journey…
The Mad Hatter is known for his weird character wearing a top hat, but did you know that his weird behavior has earned him his own day, usually celebrated with stupidity and having fun?
Here are five books that will take you on a whimsical journey.
All the birds in the sky By Charlie Jane Anders
The witch Patricia Delphine and the technology prodigy Lawrence Armstead are unsocial children—one is a dreamer, the other is a nerd. They were close to each other in school, but were torn apart under mysterious circumstances during middle school. The story jumps to their youth, and recently reunited after many years of estrangement in the context of global disasters. Do they join forces to save the world when the end of the world approaches, or do they rely on their own strength?
Pick up this humorous and sometimes heartbreaking science fiction and learn about the fate of the world.
Wanmen in January By Alix E. Harrow
The story takes place in the early 1900s and tells the story of a little girl named Jan and her caregiver Locke. In January, she found a blue door in the open field and took her to the seaside world. But when Locke confined her to her room to try to tame her curiosity and break her adventurous spirit, her adventure stopped suddenly and sadly. But the day before she was 17 years old, she found a book that opened the door to faraway countries and magical places. Every time she turns a page, she discovers different truths about the world and uncovers stories that are intertwined with her own life.
This is an award-winning fantasy novel that will release your inner adventurous spirit and take you to a world beyond your imagination.
Snake and dove By Shelby Maherin
Meet our dazzling protagonist, Louise, hiding in a French town afraid of witches and being burned to death. Before meeting Reid, she survived on a little bit she could steal, Reid was a hunter who hunted down witches. The two met and fell into a complicated romance, laying the foundation for the ultimate war between humans and witches.
It is a treat for readers who like YA novels. This book is the first in a three-part series. We recommend that you purchase all three products, and then enjoy a weekend of crazy reading about Wonder Witch and Witch Hunter.
No star sea By Irene Morgenstern
This novel tells the story of Zachary who found a book in the library that was at least 100 years old and became obsessed. His obsession is not because of the age of the book, but because he discovered that there is a chapter that depicts his own childhood scenes. According to the clues, he discovered a world of conspiracy and eventually found an underground library. He met Mirabell and Dorian, and the three of them united on a mission to rescue the library from a secret organization that wanted to keep the library secret so much that it would do anything at all costs, including Destroy it! Can Zachary save the library and find out the purpose of his inclusion in the book?
This is an adult fairy tale that combines elements of fantasy and science fiction, bringing the effect of turning pages.
Shadow and bone Author: Leigh Bardugo
The story takes place in a world in a state of war, inhabited by ordinary people and Grisha people with the ability to manipulate elements. The orphan Elena finds herself possessing a unique and rare power. But when she tried to understand her newly discovered power and where she was in the battle with Shadow Fold (black fog filled with monsters), betrayal and danger awaited her at any time.
