[ad_1]

Since the eruption of the volcano began on September 19, lava flows have destroyed more than 742 hectares of land and destroyed nearly 2,000 buildings on La Palma.

The President of the Canary Islands said on Sunday that the volcanic eruption, which has caused chaos on the Spanish island of La Palma, shows no sign of an immediate end since it started about a month ago.

According to data from the Spanish National Geographic Institute, 42 earthquakes occurred on the island on Sunday, the largest of which was 4.3.

“Although this is everyone’s greatest wish, there is no sign that the eruption is coming to an end,” President Angel Victor Torres quoted scientists as saying at the Socialist Party meeting in Valencia.

Approximately 7,000 people have been evacuated from their homes on the island, which has approximately 83,000 residents and is part of the Canary Islands in northwest Africa.

The airline Binter said that due to the volcanic ash, it had cancelled all flights to La Palma until 1pm on Sunday (12:00 GMT).

The national airport operator Aena said that almost half of all flights to the island on Sunday-22 of the 38 flights were cancelled, but the airport there was still open.
