The former official responsible for the death of George Freud pleaded not guilty to charges of violating his civil rights (update)

On Tuesday, the four former Minneapolis police officers responsible for the death of George Freud pleaded not guilty to the charges in federal court. The allegations include that they violated his civil rights during his arrest in May last year, which unfortunately resulted in his death.

according to CNN, J. Alexander Kueng, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and Derek Chauvin appeared in court via video conference, and they were arraigned in front of the US District Judge Tony N. All former police officers also face charges for failing to provide medical assistance to George.

The indictment went on to state that “the defendant saw George Floyd lying on the ground, apparently in need of medical care, and deliberately did not help Freud, and therefore deliberately ignored Freud’s significant risk of harm.”

Three other former police officers are charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter.
