Joseph Sobolewski, a 38-year-old homeless resident of Pennsylvania did not expect A bottle of Mountain Dew less than 43 cents will cause him to face nearly 10 years in prison. @NYPost reported that after being arrested last month and charged with a felony shortly thereafter, Sobolewski may now be jailed for seven years because he forgot to pay for the 43 cents he lost soda-this is due to Pennsylvania’s strict Three strokes. It is understood that in a convenience store in Perry County, Shanlu has a special price of 3 yuan for two bottles, so he took one bottle, paid 2 yuan, and left the store.
However, after the clerk told him that he had not paid enough money and followed him outside, they called the police. He was arrested soon because Sobolewski apparently did not know that the price of a bottle of Mountain Dew in the store was $2.29 instead of $1.50. This means he paid 43 cents less for the soda, plus 29 cents for the tax increase. Now, since he is still in prison, he is impounded on a $50,000 bond.
The three-strike method greatly affected Sobolewski’s freedom because he has a long history of petty criminals in retail theft. Some of his previous retail crimes included theft at K-Mart and Hobby Lobby.
Currently, Joseph Sobolevsky is waiting for his next court appearance.
