The Intl Olympic Committee Responds To Sha’Carri Richardson’s Claims

[ad_1]

Yesterday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) responded to Sha’Carri Richardson after calling the organization about double standards regarding drug testing at the Beijing Olympics. Earlier this week, she pointed out that Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva was cleared to continue competing in the Winter Games following an interim ban appeal after failing a pre-Olympics drug test .

If you recall, last year, Sha’Carri was at the center of controversy after she was banned from the Summer Games in Tokyo for testing positive for Marijuana. Mark Adams, an IOC spokesman, addressed comparisons telling Yahoo Sports“You can’t talk about double standards in relation to Russian and American athletes. Each case is individual.”

He continued stating, “Richardson’s positive doping test was discovered on 19 June, and the result was received before the start of the Olympics. She was suspended for a month. There is nothing in common between these two cases.” Sha’Carri caught wind of the statement and made a statement of her own. The track star wrote on her Instagram story, “It’s a lot ya’ll don’t know, but will learn as my season goes along… Peace and blessings. They got the right one .”

With all eyes on the athletes, it appears that Kamila’s time in the Olympics hasn’t ended as she anticipated after the controversy. Today, People reported that the fifteen-year-old made several uncharacteristic mistakes and finished fourth with 224.09 points during her free skate on Thursday. After the short program, she had been in first but got 141.93 for her free skate.

Kamilla was visibly shaken and distraught and even broke down in tears. Following the event, she reportedly did not speak with the press. Roommates, what do you think of Kamila’s performance and the IOC statement?
