The next rising star in the spotlight for regional artists is: Michele

[ad_1]

Flash Entertainment continues its regional artist spotlight program to support regional music talent…

Beautiful melancholy

Be warned, listening to Michelle’s music may make you cry. It really works for us, and seems to be the subject of most of her private concerts in the area. Anyway, this is how Michelle likes it. The R&B living in Dubai encountered music composed by a new soul singer, which she described as “sultry and dreamlike depression”. It may not be the kind of music you want to listen to before brunch, but if you feel a little emotional, go for it on the spot.

Latest news: How did you get in touch with music in the first place?

Michelle: I have been singing since I was three years old. My parents found my voice to be very good and asked me to take lessons in vocal, piano and guitar. My first vocal coach wanted to train my voice to sing classical music and opera… This obviously did not persist. I always thought I would be a cover artist, or just a person who can “sing well”. I have severe stage fright, which does not help my acting ambitions. But as I grew older, I didn’t want to live with regret, so I forced myself to start turning on the microphone. It grew up from there…

WO: How would you describe the music you make?

male: I like to describe my music with sultry sadness. I tried to squeeze the hearts of the audience so that they had to face themselves and their feelings. I don’t think I fit a genre, but new soul music, jazz, fantasy pop music and sometimes Bossanova have a great influence on me.

WO: Which artists or characters inspired you?

male: I admire many independent artists who have become popular. I like to study them and learn from them. Artists such as Tanerelle, Alina Baraz, Galimatias, Col3trane, Joy Crookes, Rum.gold… I can hold on for several days. I am also deeply inspired by Egyptian artists. The music industry there is really prosperous. I respect these artists and try to learn from them.

WO: What is your recent musical achievement?

male: One of my latest versions, All for me, has been added to a large Spotify playlist, which is very exciting. I also played it a few times on the BBC’s “Introduction”, which was a huge victory. Another personal achievement is that someone from Australia sent me a video of her and her husband dancing the first dance with one of my songs at the wedding. This is a shock in the best way.

WO: What was your creative process like? Has there been any change after the epidemic?

male: My process starts with a melody or a loop, I start with the beat of Splice or YouTube. Once I find the right song, I start to sing some gibberish on it, create a skeleton for a possible song, and then decide which producer I want to work with to make the song based on the sound of the song. The songwriting part is my least favorite part. I like melody better, so song creation comes last. This is definitely not easy. It takes a lot of work to create a song, but working with the right people will make the process smoother.

WO: Where have you performed? Which venue do you like to perform best?

male: My favorite performance so far is at the November White Space event. I am a guest artist, and this is my first performance after the epidemic. It is so unforgettable because it is such a private environment, it takes place in the theater of the Mall of the Emirates, I think this is a hidden gem in Dubai. The audience is very accepting of every song. Some people said they cried when I performed the phantom. If this is not a compliment to my music, I don’t know what it is.

WO: What have you released recently? What is the story behind them?

male: I posted a small project called A piece of green Come back in May. This is a three-track EP. A track is more like a monologue connecting two songs. I have written their articles about experiencing the pandemic separately. The pandemic has undoubtedly made me experience a roller coaster of emotions. I can draw inspiration from my feelings and feelings when writing songs for this project. Another version released earlier this year is All for me. This is about being in a toxic relationship. The inspiration for this song came from a small event in my personal life, and I exaggerated it when I wrote the song.

WO: Which of these editions do you like best and why?

male: ‘All for me’ is definitely one of my favorite tracks that I have composed so far. And I released Fire in 2020. They are my favorite because they are the closest to the direction I want the sound to move. I am also very excited about my next version. I completed this project in collaboration with Jay Wud, and he pushed me to try more voices.

WO: What does an ordinary day look like for you?

I wake up around 7 in the morning and like to start taking things off my list. I work from 9 to 5, so during the week I spend my days at work, and then I will listen to music. I do like to be at home, but I also have moments of social butterfly.

WO: What does your participation in the regional artist spotlight mean to you?

male: I am honored to be the artist of the month, especially in the list of artists already selected. This definitely makes me feel that I am doing the right thing. I never thought I would be who I am today, so any victory, no matter how big or small, I will celebrate and urge myself to do better, and do more every time. I am very grateful to be a member of the Regional Artist Spotlight platform. I only hope that my music can reach more people and hearts through it.

WO: What are your top four playlists after the party?

male: I have a playlist of 600 favorite songs to choose from, but these are the most watched songs: Concrete by Teyana Taylor; Let Go by Galimatias; Jenevive Baby Powder; Mother Saturn by Tanerelle.
