The next rising star in the spotlight for regional artists is: Moh Flow

[ad_1]

The Regional Artist Spotlight Initiative aims to support regional music talents…

TonHis first time Latest News I saw Moh Flow’s performance in 2014. It is a beautiful open-air temporary space in Safa Park. A handful of UAE’s top budding musicians perform for a small group of music lovers. In the lineup is a young Syrian rapper who already has a close fan base. When he stepped onto the stage, he attracted the audience with his rap, smooth caramel singing and rich melody.

A few years later, Moh Flow has transformed into a hip-hop artist who is very popular in the local area, sculpted his own unique voice and witnessed his performance on the largest stage in the UAE, including the newly renamed Etihad Park. At that time, he opened the 2019 post-match concert for Marshmello in Yasalam.

He has also collaborated with numerous artists in the region, including the legendary American rapper Pusha-T, and continues to release new tracks that are worth adding to your summer playlist.

Latest news: How did you get in touch with music in the first place?

Moh Flow: When I was young, I was attracted to music and watched my brother A’Y independently make music for most of my childhood. As I grew up, I began to want to be part of that circle. I focused on figuring out how to record, download beats online, and write songs from scratch. I started by covering a few of my favorite rappers (mainly Lupe Fiasco), and then I started writing my own songs.

WO: How would you describe the music you make?

MF: It is difficult for me to classify, just because I sing and rap. I have been exposed to hip-hop, R&B, EDM, house, Afro and other genres, as well as some sub-genres under these genres. I like to create music with new emotions that connect with me.

WO: Which artists or characters inspired you?

MF: For me, the thing about inspiration is that I don’t have to see someone open up a path with which I can connect in order for them to inspire me. I see inspiration in anyone who can use very few things to build sports or something worthwhile.

WO: What is your recent musical achievement?

MF: In general, my view of achievement has changed over time. I have received virtual nods from many artists I admire since I was a child. I opened my heart to legendary artists and worked with some of my favorite brands on my journey. In addition, I am most proud of keeping my catalog relevant through the saturation of online music. I am proud of my core audience. After all, we want our art to be listened to as widely as possible.

WO: What was your creative process like? Has there been any change after the epidemic?

MF: My creative process has always been an isolated process. I like to create in a very concentrated space and rarely go out of my comfort zone to create. I work with my production team, and I think we have consolidated a process, or several iterations of our process, which always help us make records that can be creatively invested.

WO: Where have you performed? Which venue do you like to perform best?

MF: I am fortunate to have many moments on the commemorative stage. I like every performance from the arena to the low ceiling venue. SOB, Sole DXB and du Arena (now Etihad Park) must be in my top five.

WO: What have you released recently? What is the story behind them?

MF: Since my last project “Faith”, it is more like an R&B effort. I want to enter an unfiltered space. During the pandemic, I tend to use specific styles of instrument concepts. I vent in the spiritual space, so I use these records to touch the recent real life on the radical drums and empty melody. Records like’Til Infinity’ and’Wave’ are hero records to me, and’Level Up’ and’Ghost’ may be people’s favorites.

WO: Which of these editions do you like best and why?

MF: My favorite is always “Til Infinity”. Everything about this record represents the last 18 months of my life. I like these records because they represent my time. TI represents my tired and frustrated side, and I can only vent on these records. Telling the truth about me in music is the only reason these records are meaningful to me.

WO: Are you currently collaborating with other artists?

MF: I created some music with Ayo Wani, Menon, Omar Basaad, Narcy and some other artists I like.

WO: What is a normal day like for you?

MF: My daily life revolves around Hrmny, a creative agency I co-founded with Majeed (Jeed) and Ayham (A’Y) in 2017. This is the focus of my daily work during working hours and beyond. When the sun goes down, I spend time on my craft and everything that comes with it. I usually get more comfortable with music later in the day. I also play basketball a lot; you can find me on the courts in Dubai on any weekday night.

WO: What does it mean to you to be part of the regional artist spotlight?

MF: I am honored to be a member of this creative community, and I look forward to discovering more artists through this platform. The more outlets children see, the more art they make. I just want more kids who look and talk like me to tell their stories through art.

WO: What are your top five playlists after the party?

1. Baby Keem-meaningless

2. Brockhampton-Bank Deposit (ft. A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky)

3. Preme & PARTY NEXT DOOR – Can’t Hang

4. St. John – Time of the Devil

5. Scribz Riley – On My Sleeve (ft.Kaash Paige)
