The UAE Racing Board (ERA) is ready to welcome the participants of the 2021-2022 UAE season. Before the start of the season on October 29, the Authority announced several groundbreaking initiatives, including a plan to cultivate management talent in the UAE as part of the promotion of sports development in the UAE.

ERA Vice President Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmouk bin Juma Al Maktoum announced the reopening of doors for racing fans and welcomed the decision to fully resume normal activities at all five UAE racecourses after the UAE successfully defeated the pandemic.

“We miss the fans from last season very much, and we look forward to welcoming them back after the UAE authorities approve them to resume normal operations in full compliance with all COVID-19 agreements,” Sheikh Rashid said at a party at ERA Officials recently at a meeting held in the office of the administration. “As we begin to host a series of exciting races and implement new strategic initiatives, we will continue to work with our stakeholders, club management and relevant authorities to ensure that our racecourse is fully restored in a controlled environment. The safety of the load crowd is given priority.”

Sheikh Rashid also praised the leadership of the UAE and all stakeholders for their contributions to the planning and decision-making process before the new season. He also revealed that a new set of crowd agreements will be announced soon.

Sheikh Rashid emphasized the initiatives for the upcoming season, which is expected to be the largest and best season in the history of the UAE Motorsport Authority. He said he is very much looking forward to the plan that will enable Emirati with a high degree of commitment and leadership to play an important role in racing. Aspects of governance and management functions. Sheikh Rashid said: “We have gained a lot of participation from Emirati through horse racing ownership, and we are very pleased to be able to extend this opportunity to capable individuals to help guide and support our operations on race days.”

The recently appointed Director General of ERA, Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, also attended the meeting. He expressed his full support for the growth and development of horse racing in the UAE according to a well-thought-out strategic plan. Al Shehhi thanked the UAE authorities and officials for their extraordinary efforts to overcome the COVID crisis, which helped all activities and sports in the country return to normal.

He said that the decision-making of the agreement during the game will be left to the various clubs and authorities, adding that ERA looks forward to supporting them in managing the necessary rules and regulations. Al Shehhi said: “Under the guidance of our leaders’ vision, the UAE has successfully weathered the pandemic and moved towards a brighter, sustainable future.” “However, we urge those participating in the competition to fully comply with preventive measures and follow the rules. To create a safe environment in our racecourse.”

Considering the key role played by the Gulf region in the development of global horse racing, the UAE Racing Board is strengthening its partnership with the authorities of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to develop this sport in the region.

“We are very pleased that our partnership with neighboring countries has promoted close coordination and solidarity efforts between horse racing authorities,” Al Shehhi said. “We will expand our cooperation with our counterparts in the Gulf countries, and share ideas and expertise that will help the further development of this sport, and create promising opportunities for the entire horse racing community and the equestrian industry.”

Al Shehhi also revealed that in the 2021-2022 UAE season, Mark Bird, an Irish jockey club handicap player with more than 20 years of racing experience, will join ERA in the same capacity. The meeting also reviewed and discussed the recommendations and measures put forward by the previous ERA meetings, and put forward suggestions on the follow-up and implementation of key decisions.

A key initiative of ERA is to provide car owners with more badges so that they can bring more friends and family to the race, thereby expanding the fan base of the UAE racecourse. If they receive a large number of announcements, two other key decisions will split the game into two divisions. Subsequently, ERA will compensate for the appropriate bonuses to be shared in the event of a split. In addition, this is the first time that connecters only need to pay a registration fee to participate in all competitions they participate in. Contact includes people who have contact with the horse participating in the race, including the owner, trainer, rider, and stable staff.

Another breakthrough decision is to study the possibility of allowing horses participating in the Dubai World Cup Carnival to participate in major Pat horse races such as the National Day Cup, Jebel Ali Championship, and Mile Race at Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali Racecourse. And Sprint, if quarantine regulations allow it. Until recently, carnival horses were allowed to participate in carnival events.

In terms of management, it was decided to appoint a racing secretary to manage the drafting of race conditions and to help coordinate between the UAE racecourse and the ERA management department. The new trainer committee will help communicate with the authorities on competition-related issues (including rules and general inquiries, etc.). All participants at the meeting agreed that the committee will do a lot in helping to get in touch with the authorities.
