[ad_1]

“The View” pays homage to “Vision [and] The Passion of the late Barbara Walters on Tuesday (03.01.22).

The veteran broadcaster, who died on Friday (30.12.22) at the age of 93, featured co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin celebrate his life and legacy of pioneer journalists.

The introduction begins with a montage and a tribute to Barbara saying: “The woman who changed the way the world watches daytime TV.

“It was her vision, her passion, her performance, and today, The View remembers Barbara Walters.

Joy opened up the discussion, describing her former co-host as an “original role model”.

She said: “People talk about her on all the shows, but I think we know her better than anyone.

“[Barbara] Without a mentor or role model, she is the original role model for others.

“She was very anti-sexist and ageist. She went right into the jaws of the lion…She started The View at 68 — very few people start a whole new career at 68.”

Whoopi agrees: “The industry has to respect her. She doesn’t allow them to disrespect her.”

“There is no one like her. Like all firsts, she was the first, and many of us are replicas. But there will never be another Barbara Walters.”

Later in the show, former “View” co-hosts Meredith Vieira, Debbie Maternopoulos, Lisa Lin, Shirley Shepard, Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Ta Jones also joined the discussion in person by phone and via Zoom in honor of Barbara.

Star praised her late colleague as “the gossip who likes to tell dirty jokes the most”.

She added: “Barbara was the one who introduced me to the whole Upper East Side social scene. The best seat in the house at any social event was next to Barbara Walters. She could tell you about everyone in the room everything of.”

Debbie, the youngest panelist in the show’s history, said Barbara “single-handedly changed [her] Life”.

She added: “I was a 22-year-old journalism student when she picked me to sit next to her on this show.”

Elizabeth calls Barbara her “TV mom”.

She said: “Her relationship with me was multi-layered. She was my TV mom, my mentor … I would say I had the pleasure of sitting next to Barbara Walters for 10 years, getting my masters in broadcasting Bachelor of Science.”

The episode ends with a look back at some of the late star’s most important interviews on the show and recaps her emotional moment on “The View” on the final day of 2014, Oprah Winfer Ray (Oprah Winfrey) joins the panel to present Barbara’s “legacy”; a string of female journalists, including Diane Sawyer, Connie Chung and Jane Pauley.
