The Lawrenceville Arts Center will welcome the holiday season November 25-December with Gwinnett’s longest-running theatrical holiday tradition, “Christmas Canteen,” featuring a series of songs, skits and dances. twenty three.
“Christmas Canteen” for audiences of all ages will take the stage Thursday through Sunday at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2:30pm as the Aurora Theatre’s Clyde and Sandra Strickland Tickets for premiere performances in the Stage Theater start at $30.
The script for the show, developed by Shelli Delgado, will be directed by Katie Erin Chambers and choreographed by Kari Twyman. Music Director Ann-Carol Pence, Associate Producer and Co-Founder of the theatre, has been involved in the production of The Christmas Dining Room since its 1996 premiere.

Breaking the Peace: The Freedom Riders of 1961, October 14, 8pm
Teenage Jean Thompson was one of a dozen Freedom Riders who boarded a bus bound for New Orleans on May 24, 1961.
Thompson’s journey, which includes being arrested for using a “whites-only” bathroom in Mississippi and spending time in prison, is recounted in this solo play on the Clyde and Sandra Strickland Big Stage. several nights.
The story is based on the true account of the surviving Freedom Riders who risked their lives in an effort to get the federal government to enforce the Supreme Court’s ban on segregation.
