Thirteen HBCUs kick off Black History Month with bomb threats

Last month, bomb threats disrupted the lives of historically black universities and colleges in the United States. Unfortunately, HBCU students and staff on at least 13 campuses kicked off Black History Month with a vague fear of such threats. This is the third time multiple HBCUs have been notified since January 4. Currently, there is no information on the suspect.

Threats on Tuesday

According to CNN, List of threatened schools Including: Coppin State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Morgan State University, Alcorn State University, Tougaloo College, Jackson State University, Kentucky State University, Fort Valley State University, Howard University, Xavier University, University of the District of Columbia, Spey Mann College and Edward Waters University.

Several schools closed their campuses immediately, advising students to shelter in place or in dorms. Others moved classes online while assessing threats. Many threats emerge early in the morning. Jackson State University said on Twitter that they received the threat at 4:15 a.m. local time. Howard University said via Twitter that the threat came at 2:55 a.m. local time. The University of the District of Columbia received their credentials at 3:20 a.m. local time.

Campus life is slowly returning to life as HBCU provides updates through social media and its website. So far, there have been no recorded explosions or bomb discoveries. As of press time, police have conducted full investigations into several schools, including Tugalo College, Mississippi Valley State University and Kentucky State University.

just yesterday, Six HBCUs Including bomb threats reported by Howard University. Unidentified culprits have targeted Howard three times this month. They also targeted Xavier University twice. Other schools named are: Southern University and A&M University, Bethune-Cookman University, Albany State University, Bowie State University and Delaware State University. Every educational institution has closed campuses and suspended university operations. Despite this, authorities did not report any bombs found or detonated at any HBCUs on Monday.

at least January 4th Seven schools received the same threat. The list includes: Howard University, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Florida Memorial University, Norfolk State University, North Carolina Central University, Texas Prairie A&M University and Xavier University.
