This UAE doctor serves two generations of mothers-News

[ad_1]

For the past three decades, serving the people of the UAE as a doctor is a feeling of unconditional love for Dr. Saleema Wani

As a doctor in the UAE, my greatest asset is to witness the baby born under my hands, and then become a mother and father by myself!

During my three-year journey in the UAE, I have witnessed generations of beautiful children come to this world.

I remember holding the hand of a young mother who was giving birth to her daughter. A few years later, she held her daughter’s hand when she gave birth to two children.

Think about it when I landed here with my husband on April 15, 1989, I thought I might stay for a year or two before I could return to my home country.

The day after I landed in the UAE from Kashmir, I started working as a junior doctor in Abu Dhabi Corniche Hospital. Interestingly, when I came here, I had not resigned from my previous role. I originally planned to live here for a few years before returning to my home country. At the time, I hardly knew that those “years” would extend to “decades”-thirty-two years to be precise.

In those years, I went in and out of the hospital day after day. Sometimes I am very tired and desolate, and life is still going on, but I can’t give up. I am on a mission and have almost no free time!

When I think about leaving the UAE, it’s hard to imagine. It is very difficult to leave a country like home. Because of my profession, you are surrounded by your family-not only your own blood, but also many people who have become my big family here.

I have served two generations of mothers, and today I am helping those women who gave birth by myself to give birth to new babies! Many of them still call me, ask for my opinion, and treat me as their second mother. How could I leave my child behind?

When I look at these mothers, I see that although so many changes have taken place in the UAE in the past thirty years-whether it is socio-economic changes or other aspects, two things have remained the same-instilled values And traditional Emirati and expats of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The second is the weather! Although I can’t say much about the weather, it’s fair to say that it is these values and the love and patronage traditions endowed by my family and elders that make me feel like at home—just like everyone’s member. Their family. It comforts me to know that my two sons, Mohammed and Ammar, will never be alone.

It is not easy to be a doctor while raising two sons, and be a wife while getting a degree. But through the pragmatic and visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and our country’s mother Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan I paved the way, how can I not improve my skills? Member of the Supreme Council for Maternal and Childhood and the Supreme Chairman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).

Sheikh Zayed once said: “No matter how many buildings, foundations, schools, and hospitals we build, or how many bridges we build, all of these are physical entities. The real spirit behind progress is the human spirit. A talented person.”

This sentence resonated deeply with me. It motivates me to devote myself to my own growth to keep up with the latest technological advances, and to give back to the community by assuming multiple teaching and mentoring roles in the education field.

Erich Fromm once wrote: “Those who try to learn to love in a mature and conscious way understand that love is not possession or a condition. Love is a caring and determined desire designed to promote The growth of all those we love.”

Simply put, serving the people of this country as a doctor in the past three years is an unconditional love for me. When I think back to my time in this country and the years to come, I feel that life is not about doing what we like to do; on the contrary, we need to love what we do.
