
DUBAI: Thousands of volunteers turned up at various locations across the UAE on Saturday to support those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Responding to the call of the UAE’s “Bridges of Good” movement, they collected and packaged relief supplies for those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.
In Abu Dhabi, large numbers of Emiratis and expatriate volunteers gathered at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center as part of the event and packed tons of relief supplies.
In addition, in Dubai, more than 500 volunteers gathered in Dubai Expo City to pack relief supplies for earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey. Dubai Cares organized the events in partnership with the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and Sharjah Charity International, the Ministry of Community Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International, and the response from donors and volunteers has been overwhelming.
On its Twitter account, Dubai Cares also expressed its sincerest thanks to all the volunteers who joined us today in the Bridge of Giving initiative to support families affected by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Some of the key donation items packed on Saturday included tents, cooking sets, sleeping bags, rollaway beds, blankets, heaters, canned and dry food as well as water, medical supplies, basic hygiene items and nutrition for children.
