“A survey of more than 89,000 parents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi this year found that nearly 40 percent want more parenting guidance. So this campaign aims to start those conversations,” Mariam Al Hallami, Director of Early Childhood at Adek, told Gulf News.

She added that the meeting complemented the UAE leadership’s emphasis on improving early childhood care and education.

“We know people need more parental support and this campaign is our first response and is in line with the UAE’s goal of providing a better quality of life for all. We are bringing together old and new knowledge to support and empower parents, families, carers , educators and ultimately the children and adolescents who shape our lives. We are here to reframe the entire parental debate by putting the needs of the child at the forefront,” Musallam said in her opening remarks.

Held at the Etihad Arena, the session covered parental mistakes, bilingualism and packing healthy lunch boxes for children. Area experts will also employ methods such as conscious parenting and mindfulness to develop down-to-earth children.
