Ticketmaster is the ‘anti-hero’ for Taylor Swift fans in Denver | Arts & Entertainment

[ad_1]

Ticketmaster made Taylor Swift fans in Denver wait all day for their turn to buy tickets — and then left many of them without tickets.

Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated “Times” tour kicked off its “Verified Fan” pre-sale on Tuesday morning, making tickets available to those who have qualified and been selected. Fans signed up nearly a week in advance for a chance to get tickets to the Denver show on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET.

Fans endured a series of technical difficulties and ended up lining up all day, experiencing hours-long pause queues and being kicked out of the system after entering.

“Unprecedented demand with millions of people flocking to buy TaylorSwiftTix advance tickets,” Ticketmaster tweeted.

Ticketmaster has also rescheduled the Capital One cardholder pre-sale, allowing exclusive ticket purchases for fans with Capital One credit cards. The new slot will begin on November 16 at 2pm local time” to address historic ticket demand.

Mikendra Lynn, a longtime Taylor Swift fan in Boulder, signed up for the pre-sale, but couldn’t get tickets for Swift’s “Times” tour in Denver.

Lynn joined the ticket line 15 minutes before pre-sales began, 20,000 people ahead of her, and said she waited all day before she was finally kicked out of the system.

First, Lynn said, the system froze for hours. She then waits longer in the queue to choose a seat. When she tried to buy tickets, the website turned her away. When she tried again, the show was sold out.

“My friends and I love Taylor Swift, so it would be devastating if the site wouldn’t let me through again,” Lynn said.

Fans took to Twitter to complain to the ticketing service, accusing Ticketmaster of not being prepared.

The confusion even attracted politicians and celebrities to comment on the pre-sale process on Twitter. New York State Assemblywoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called Ticketmaster a “monopoly” that needed to be “ruled.”

The official Netflix Twitter account also joined the conversation, retweeting a @PopCrave tweet about the world’s population of 8 billion with the headline “They’re all waiting in line right now.”

Fans who missed out on the pre-sale will have a chance to snag tickets when regular ticket sales begin at 10am local time on November 18.

Fans with tickets will see Taylor Swift at Empower Field on Mile High in Denver on July 15, 2023. The show will feature musical artists Muna and Gracie Abrams.

In a tweet, Swift said that the era tour will take fans “through the musical eras of (Swift’s) career (past and present).” Her career includes 10 original studio albums, starting with her self-titled debut in October 2006.
