Keith, 61, shared his hope that he might be “on the road this fall” if he can find the energy to put on a full live show and take a respite from his cancer treatment.
“I have more wind. I’m thinking about bringing a band in and setting it up, playing somewhere for two or three days, just to see if I can last two hours,” Keith said. “All I’m going to do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and a break from chemo and then we’ll get back to work.”
Keith told the outlet that while he is still receiving chemotherapy, his tumor has shrunk by a third in size and his blood tests have been encouraging. However, he was “about eight weeks away from my last scan”.
“I expected to have fewer tumors the next time I looked for them,” he said, “and I only found one.”
It’s been more than a year now Keith reveals for the first time that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancerrevealed the news in a statement posted on his social media account.
“Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I have been undergoing chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for the past six months. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax,” “Should have been a Cowboys,” the singer wrote.
