Tokyo Olympics: Under the threat of Covid-19, the game kicked off with football and softball-News

Announced another 8 Olympic-related coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 79

Sports for the Tokyo Olympics finally started on Wednesday, without spectators, and after the coronavirus pandemic forced the Olympics to be postponed for a year.

With the start of action in Japan two days before the opening ceremony on Friday, Brisbane won a vote by members of the International Olympic Committee to host the 2032 Summer Olympics, sparking celebrations and fireworks in the city.

Brisbane will become the third Australian city to host the Olympic Games after Melbourne and Sydney, and was selected as the only candidate city early in the bidding process.

“We know what it takes to successfully host the Olympics,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said via a live broadcast in Canberra before voting.

This decision means that the hosts for the next three Summer Olympics are already in place. Paris will host the event in 2024, and Los Angeles will organize the 2028 Olympics.

Softball starts to move

In Japan, the first game was where the hosts beat Australia 8-1 in softball in the disaster-stricken Fukushima. After the area was devastated by the 2011 tsunami, the venue was selected to emphasize Tokyo’s original slogan “Recovery and Reconstruction Games.” Nuclear disaster.

Due to the surge in coronavirus cases in Tokyo and other parts of Japan, most of the Olympic Games banned spectators from watching the games, and the games were held in an empty stadium.

With the wooded hills as the background, the sound of the ball hitting the bat echoed around the East Stadium.

The Olympics are held under the “bubble” conditions of biosafety. Athletes are tested every day and are required to maintain social distance and wear masks when not competing, training, eating or sleeping.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told IOC members on Wednesday that the Olympics can never be “zero risk.”

“There is no zero risk in life; there are only more risks, or less risks. You have done your best,” he told a representative who keeps his distance from society and wears a mask.

“The sign of success in the next two weeks is not zero cases… The sign of success is ensuring that any cases are identified, isolated, tracked and taken care of as quickly as possible,” he added.

An additional 8 cases of coronavirus related to the Olympics were announced, bringing the total to 79.

Sweden kicked off the first wave of shock

Britain and the United States both knelt before the women’s football opener, after the ban on protests was relaxed to allow political stances before the game.

The United Kingdom defeated Chile 2-0, but the four-time champion of the former World Player of the Year Megan Rapinoe (Megan Rapinoe) suffered the first impact of the Olympic Games in the 3-0 loss to Sweden.

Stina Blackstenius scored twice and Lina Hurtig scored a third goal, giving the 2016 silver medalist Sweden a fantastic start and the US team losing for the first time in 45 games.

Although most Olympic venues prohibit spectators from entering the stadium, some fans were able to watch the first game.

In Miyagi Prefecture, 59-year-old Nojiri and her 61-year-old husband Kazuhiko witnessed Brazil defeating China 5-0, Zambia played against the Netherlands in the Women’s Football Championship, and Miyagi Prefecture was one of the first areas that still allowed spectators to watch.

“It’s great. It’s disappointing that there are not many fans there, but it’s great to see these top players show their skills,” Hikari told AFP at the Miyagi Stadium.

“This will not happen again in my lifetime, so this is a very precious opportunity.”

In the first drug case of the Tokyo Olympics, Australian athlete Jamie Kermond was temporarily suspended after testing positive for cocaine on June 26.

Under Australia’s anti-doping policy, he now has the opportunity to analyze his B sample. Australia reported that Kermond did not travel to Tokyo with the other members of the team.
