Tom Brady is taking time out from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for “personal matters.”
The 45-year-old quarterback – with sons John, 14, and ex-girlfriends Bridget Moynahan and Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9, and wife Gisele Bundchen – trained in July He told his teammates before the start of camp that he needed a break and would not return until after their second preseason game.
In a press conference on Thursday (11.08.22), the head coach of the NFL team, Todd Powers, said: “Tom was forgiven today. He’ll take it…he’ll be back somewhere after Tennessee …he’ll take care of some personal stuff.
“It was something we discussed before training camp started. We allocated that time because he wanted to come in and have chemistry with the players and go through two weeks of training camp because he knew he wasn’t going to play the first two games. He didn’t want to deprive Brian of his representation [Gabbert] and Kyle [Trask] and “Griff” [Ryan Griffin] As for going into the next two games. This is something he needs to deal with.
“We trusted him. We talked about it. It was scheduled before training camp and he wasn’t coming until after Tennessee.”
The coach declined to further reveal the athlete’s absence, stressing it was a “personal matter” but insisted he had “fairly high” confidence that Tom would return and be ready for the season opener on September 11.
Tom announced in February that he would retire from the NFL, but just two months later he admitted he had reconsidered and committed to another season with the Buccaneers.
He tweeted at the time: “Over the past two months I have realised that my place is still on the pitch, not in the stands.
“That time will come. But not now. I love my teammates, I love my family who support me. They make this possible. I’m going into my 23rd season in Tampa.”
