Tom Cruise has reportedly been keeping his distance from Will Smith. Sources close to Top Gun: The Maverick star revealed he wasn’t willing to risk his reputation at actor Richard King’s infamous Oscars.
According to sources close to the actor, Smith, 53, has been trying to reconnect with Cruise in hopes of collaborating on a new project that could help reinvigorate his career.
However, Cruise, 60, has been avoiding Smith because he has refused to respond to his messages. Hollywood experts believe the Mission: Impossible star is concerned that being associated with Smith could damage his reputation.
“Will has approached Tom several times to try to reconnect, see if they could hang out together, and brainstorm some projects. A solid movie with Tom would guarantee Will’s comeback, or so he thinks,” Insiders revealed.
“Will even offered to fly to London if it was convenient, but Tom didn’t bite and didn’t even write back to him.”
Professionally, Smith was last seen in the film “Liberation,” which earned critical acclaim and became a sensation in Hollywood.
Cruise, on the other hand, will next appear in Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1.
