Visiting Dubai’s top social media influencer Khalid Al Ameri admitted yesterday that he was “overwhelmed” by his Sri Lankan followers.
“I am overwhelmed by the love and support from the Sri Lankan community and people, thank you for making us feel at home, I am happy now الØمدلله,” Khaled wrote on Facebook.
He arrived in Sri Lanka on Saturday for a three-day trip. Before taking the train to Kandy, he visited the fort’s famous Red Mosque and sampled Pettah street food stalls.
Today, with his staff forced to keep increasing the capacity of the venue due to the overwhelming response from local netizens, he plans to meet and greet 1,600 Sri Lankan fans. The event was initially opened to 250 people but after hours they decided to double the capacity to 500 and eventually limited it to 1,600 Sri Lankan fans.
Ameri is creating content with his wife Salama Mohamed, portraying the uniqueness and cultural diversity of the destinations and countries they visit through his social media platforms; 8 million on Facebook, 5.3 million on TikTok and 2.5 million on Instagram million, with over 2.1 million subscribers on YouTube.
Khaled was named to Gulf Business’ 2020 “100 Most Influential Arabs” list.
