UAE-based leading travel technology company TPConnects has partnered with Oman Air to offer IATA payment services in India using the NDC (New Distribution Capability) platform.
The IATA Pay service offers sales agents in India a new payment method for air tickets, ancillary products and services through the airline’s NDC channel.
Umesh Chhiber, Senior Vice President, Revenue, Retail and Cargo, Oman Air said: “Oman Air is very pleased to be the first airline to implement the IATA Pay payment option on our NDC channel. In the case of Oman Air’s NDC platform, the service utilizes the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), India’s local instant collection system. The solution supports UPl’s QR code scanning and Virtual Payment Address (VP/I) payment methods. The platform is designed to increase the speed and security of digital payments while reducing payment costs.
According to IATA, the technology offers airline partners a range of benefits, such as settlement within 24 hours, management of reconciliation and refunds, and access to an administrator portal.
IATA Pay will go live in Germany, UK, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Italy, India, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
“TPConnects is proud to partner with Oman Air to help launch the IATA Pay service on Air India’s NDC channel,” said Rakshit Desai, CEO of TPConnects. “The launch of this revolutionary payment platform will give Oman Air the world’s largest and one of the fastest growing commercial aviation markets provides a clear advantage.”
“The successful integration of the technology also demonstrates the capabilities of TPConnects in this competitive market,” he added.
Indian sales agents using the new service will receive a range of benefits, including no additional fees, the ability to cancel transactions and refunds in real-time. Payments can also be made on all mobile devices.
IATA Pay is the latest innovation based on IATA’s NDC standard, co-developed with airlines, travel management companies (TMCs), online travel agencies (OTAs), GDS developers and other technology players to support the next generation of B2B travel transactions.
According to IATA, the NDC standard is designed to enable the travel industry to transform the way aviation products are retailed to leisure travelers and corporate customers by addressing the industry’s current distribution constraints and enhancing communication between airlines and travel agents. – arab trade news agency
