From video apps to sports, here’s your top entertainment headlines.

Video-sharing app Triller has agreed to pay Sony Music Entertainment a fee $4.57 million settlement Violation of the terms of the agreement with the platform.

Last summer, Sony sued Triller for not paying music license fees after March 2022. The record label eventually canceled the deal after it stopped paying, but Triller apparently continued to use music from Sony’s catalog.

The lawsuit is just one of high-profile cases sparked by the video-sharing and social networking platform. Universal Music Group also sued Triller in January for non-payment. UMG also pulled its entire catalog from the platform in 2021, citing Triller’s refusal to pay artists. That same year, the two parties reached a new licensing agreement.

Triller is also being sued by producers Swizz Beats and Timbaland in the summer of 2022 for allegedly refusing to pay $28 million for their webcast series, Delay. The parties reached a settlement last September for an undisclosed amount.

Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has been waiting a long time, but he has finally signed a deal that cements his place in the Charm City.

Jackson bet on himself and negotiated the historic deal without an agent — a move that many sports analysts said would hurt his future prospects in the league. After Jackson expressed a desire to be traded and received no interest from any other teams, the period of negotiations since the end of the season has been rife with rumors and speculation about possible collusion between the teams.

However, payday comes with huge expectations. With the signing of a veteran like Odell Beckham Junior, the QB has a lot to prove with the Purple Jays.
