QQA (formerly the Quapaw Quarter Association) will present Big and Little Rock Conservation Award At the annual membership meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Morrison Hall at the Trinity Episcopal Church at West 17th and Spring Streets in Little Rock. ◼️ Richard Butler Merit Award for these Little Rock restoration projects: Esso/Exxon Station, 1600 W. Third St.; Oyster Bar, 3003 W. Markham St.; Karcher House, 501 E. Seventh St.; 912 N. Palms Street; 111 Johnson St. (outbuilding); in the South Main community, Imperial Laundry, 1501 S. Main St. and Jones Laundry/The Nest, 112 W. Daisy Bates Drive.
◼️ Jimmy Strawn Award to Kerry McCoy for the management and restoration of Taborian Hall/Dreamland Ballroom. Established in 1980, the award is given to individuals whose efforts to preserve Little Rock’s architectural heritage are inspiring to the entire community.
◼️ Peg Smith Award to Bryan Hosto for his efforts to save the Taber Patterson House at 1624 Louisiana Street. The award, which also originated in 1980, is given to a QQA member whose volunteer work in association projects and programs is “particularly exemplary,” according to a press release.
