Top officials urge companies to increase emiratization rate by 2%
Wow
As the deadline for the UAE’s emiratization target approaches, a senior official at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has reminded companies to comply with the requirement.
In a post on social media, Farida Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary of the MoHRE National Department of Human Resources and Employment, urged companies with more than 50 employees to increase the emiratization rate for skilled jobs by 2%.
From January 2023, non-compliant companies that fail to meet the goals of Emiratis will have to pay a fine of Dh72,000 for each Emiratis not employed.
She said MoHRE “will do everything in its power to help companies achieve their goals.”
Mohre had earlier clarified that it was closely monitoring compliance with the rules and reviewing the types of jobs offered to UAE nationals.
Over the past few weeks, Mohre has taken immediate action against companies found to be evading the law.
Some companies have received warning notices that they allegedly cut the wages of Emirati jobseekers, saying the UAE government’s Nafis scheme would give them a raise anyway.
An Emirati employer is also facing administrative penalties for appointing 43 family members to inflate the rate of Emiratis and benefit from the Nafis scheme.
