Jeddah: A two-year-old baby girl has been stranded in the United Arab Emirates after being caught up in a dowry fight between her parents and grandparents. Her father is said to have kept her by his side, not allowing her mother to take her back to his home in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, saying it was only after the mother withdrew the dowry harassment case registered against him in India , he will let the child go.

But the harassment continued and the wife then lodged a complaint against her husband and his parents with police in the Sri Kakulam district.
After the intervention of Srikakulam community elders, the dispute was resolved and the mother and son returned to the UAE. However, the husband allegedly harbored a grudge against his wife and in-laws and began physically attacking her and showing the same to her parents over a video call. The woman’s parents then arrived in the UAE to work out an amicable resolution in the presence of the AP NRT Social Coordinator and some other prominent members of the Telugu community in the UAE.
“The father hasn’t seen his child for a year just because she is a girl. He works 114 kilometers away in Abu Dhabi, how can he take care of her?” the woman’s parents asked. However, they fell ill and their funds ran out, and they returned home with their daughter, who was allegedly left behind by her husband.
The AP State Government Department for NRIs, APNRT and local MP K. Rammohan Naidu were also involved in the case.
