U.S. to allocate another $4.5 billion to Ukraine

November 23 (UPI) — The U.S. will allocate an additional $4.5 billion to UkraineAccording to USAID, the government will be in power by the end of the year.

USAID said in a statement that the money “will help alleviate the severe budget deficit caused by Putin’s brutal war of aggression.”

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink tweeted“As Russia continues to wage a brutal war across the country, the United States, through USAID, has announced an additional $4.5 billion in support to help Ukraine keep schools, hospitals, emergency services and utilities working for the Ukrainian people.”

According to USAID, Ukraine will receive two payments from the World Bank by the end of 2022. The funding was made possible with bipartisan support in Congress.

Including this round of funding, the U.S. government will provide $13 billion in direct budget support to the Ukrainian government.

According to USAID, since Russia began its invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the agency has been coordinating with the country’s humanitarian partners to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians.

The money will keep essential government services such as hospitals, schools and utilities running to help Ukraine withstand “tremendous economic, social and political pressure from Russia’s aggression in Ukraine.”

In addition to helping to strengthen essential services, the funding will be used to increase critical development assistance in response to cyberattacks, threats to Ukraine’s energy sector and to combat disinformation, while supporting efforts by local, regional and national Ukrainian government entities Continuous operation.
